Wrecked my VW the day after finishing
While it was a nice rifle, and a fun easy little build, it has been replaced now with a Tanaka K98 with Low Turret Mounts and a Zf39. So, needless to say, I'm not missing it ![]()
At least you've given someone else a fine piece of craftsmanship! ![]()

Does anyone know if the JG BAR 10 30 round magazines fit inside K98 ammo pouches?

Only if you modify the pouches.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Pretty much nothing fits inside the K98 pouches - except 7.92mm rounds.
Just use them for show - the BAR10 mags are small enough to fit in your tunic pockets.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Oh they can be a little bit useful, In mine I keep: swiss-army knife/tool, bandages for medic rule games, brew kit ( pre packed sachets of powered coffee/tea & sugar), lighter, sniper veil and err thats about it!
As Steiner says, just put your mags in your tunic pockets!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

That link doesnt work Tom. What magazines was it that you intended to link to?
Someone in states called Affordable Airsoft has 14 round magazines that fit his K98 springers AND fit the pouches, but he doesnt say what the magazines are on his page.
Isnt you is it?

What can I use to secure the outer barrel in the stock?
I don't want to weld it or bolt it to the inner barrel, it may cause stress on the hop-up chamber and rubber in a crash or of the like.
sgttom
I did the bolt as yours and it works lovely. Safety working.... Simple idea, yet functional.
My VSR98K fired its first 3 bbs today, hehe.

I simple tapped a small hole in the bottom of the outer barrel towards the rear and then screwed in a long grub screw. this in turn drops into a small hole in the stock and this keeps the outerbarrel locked in place so it cannot rotate or move backwards or forwards. once the handguard and front and middle bands are on it is nice and solid. simples!

I did the same but the other way round. I drilled into the stock and fixed in a steel pin. This locates in a hole in the bottom of the outer barrel and locks it in place. It was easier to fix the pin into the wood than the metal ![]()
might be mounting optics on the gun though, unless he has the proper metalwork he wont be able to mount the offset optics very well/straight.

He could cut down the rail so it's just two parts where the scope mounts connect to - rather than full bar ![]()
Yes, I will hack the rail after I have chosen the optics. I wish for no surprises when I arrive with the optics at home and realise any mistake.
Some more pics.

Your work is very good. Thank you for your tips.
I am using a wood stock, not plastic...
I decided to go for a blonder stock for my dboys conversion...
